Getting started with business VoIP
What is Youvoip?
Youvoip is a cloud phone system for businesses. It gives your company local and toll-free numbers, an auto attendant, call routing, voicemail to email, mobile and desktop apps, call recording and call analytics, for one price per user. Read more about our VoIP service.
What do I need to use Youvoip?
An internet connection and a device: a mobile phone, a computer or a compatible SIP desk phone. There is no phone server to install and no technician visit.
How long does setup take?
With new numbers, an admin can build the call flow and invite the team in one sitting. When you keep your current numbers, calls move to Youvoip on the date the port completes, and your old service keeps working until then. See how business VoIP works.
Can I try Youvoip before I pay?
Yes. The VoIP demo lets you build a call flow, hear the greeting and simulate a call in your browser, without an account. Youvoip itself is a paid subscription, monthly or yearly, with no contract.
Numbers and number porting
Can I keep my current business number?
Yes. We port local and toll-free numbers from your current carrier at no charge. Your existing service keeps working until the port completes, so there is no gap in calls. See number porting.
How long does porting take?
It depends on the losing carrier and the type of number. Most ports take from several days to a few weeks. You get the confirmed date in advance, and we guide you through the paperwork. Our guide on how to port a phone number lists every step.
Can I get new local or toll-free numbers?
Yes. Choose local numbers by area code or a toll-free number (800, 888, 877, 866 and others) during setup. See virtual phone numbers and toll free numbers.
Can I have numbers in other countries?
International numbers in 40+ countries are part of the Ultimate and Enterprise plans.
What happens to my numbers if I leave?
They stay yours. Numbers you port in or get from us can be ported out to another provider.
Calls, apps and desk phones
Does it work on my mobile?
Yes. The app for iPhone and Android rings with your business number and calls out with the company caller ID, so your personal number stays private. See the business phone app.
Can I use my desk phones?
Yes. Compatible SIP desk phones connect to Youvoip and ring together with the apps of the person who uses them.
What happens when the office internet is down?
Calls do not stop. Youvoip forwards them to the mobile app or to a mobile number you choose, and anything unanswered goes to voicemail to email.
How much internet bandwidth do I need?
A business call uses a small, steady amount of bandwidth. What matters more is a stable connection: wired or strong Wi-Fi in the office and a reasonable upload speed. If calls sound choppy, our team helps you check the network.
Is calling in the US and Canada unlimited?
Yes, on every plan. Toll-free minutes for inbound calls are pooled across the account: 100 per user on Essentials, 500 on Business and 1 000 on Ultimate.
Features
Is call recording included on every plan?
Yes. Automatic and on demand recording is on every plan. Recordings are kept 90 days on Essentials, 1 year on Business and without a time limit on Ultimate. See call recording software.
Is the auto attendant included, or is it an add-on?
It is included on every plan, with a multi-level menu, business hours and holiday schedules. See the IVR system and auto attendant.
Can my team send text messages from the business number?
Yes, on Business and above. Business texting sends and receives SMS and MMS from company numbers. In the US, business texting requires a carrier registration of your company, which we guide from the admin console. See text messaging service for business.
Does Youvoip work with our CRM?
On Business and above, Youvoip connects with HubSpot, Salesforce and Zoho for click to call and call logging, and with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 contacts.
Do you have call queues for a support team?
Yes, on Business and above: queues with hold music, wait time and position announcements, plus whisper, barge and monitor for team leads. See VoIP call center solutions.
Pricing and billing
How much does Youvoip cost?
Essentials is $24 per user per month, or $19 billed yearly. Business is $36, or $29 billed yearly. Ultimate is $54, or $44 billed yearly. Enterprise is priced with our sales team. See VoIP pricing.
Is there a contract?
No. Plans are monthly or yearly per user, with no long-term contract. You can cancel at any time, and access continues until the end of the paid period.
Can I add and remove users?
Yes, at any time. New users are prorated to the end of the current period, and removed users stop renewing at the next billing date.
Are taxes and fees included in the price?
Plan prices do not include taxes and regulatory fees. These vary by state and are shown on the invoice.
Security, 911 and compliance
How does 911 work?
Every user has a registered emergency address for 911 calls, set and updated in the admin console. Because 911 over VoIP depends on that address and on a working connection, keep addresses current when people move or work from home.
Are calls and recordings encrypted?
Yes. Calls are encrypted in transit, and recordings and voicemails are encrypted at rest. See VoIP security.
Do you support single sign-on?
Yes, on Enterprise: SSO with SAML, Okta and Microsoft Entra ID, SCIM user provisioning, custom admin roles and an audit log. See enterprise VoIP systems.
Do I need to tell callers that calls are recorded?
Recording consent rules differ by state, and some states require every party to agree. Youvoip can play a recording announcement at the start of each call, and your admin decides where it plays.
