SIP trunking for the PBX you already have
Not every company can switch off its PBX on a Friday and start fresh on Monday. Contact centers, hospitals, manufacturers and offices with hundreds of extensions often need the old system and the new one to run together for weeks. Youvoip SIP trunking, part of the Enterprise plan, connects your existing PBX to our cloud so calls flow between both while you move numbers, departments and people at your own pace.
What is SIP trunking
SIP trunking replaces the physical phone lines that connect a PBX to the public phone network with a connection over the internet, using the Session Initiation Protocol. Instead of a bundle of copper lines or a PRI circuit, the PBX sends and receives calls through a SIP trunk. For companies with an on-premise PBX, it is the usual first step toward cloud calling: the PBX stays, the carrier lines go.
SIP trunking as a bridge to the cloud
We offer SIP trunking for one purpose: to make the move from an on-premise PBX to Youvoip safe. During migration, the trunk links your PBX and your Youvoip account. A department that has moved answers in Youvoip apps; a department that has not yet moved still answers on the PBX. Internal extensions can reach each other across both systems, and callers do not notice which side answered.
- Move numbers in batches through number porting, at no charge.
- Keep the PBX dial plan while you rebuild call flows in Youvoip.
- Migrate site by site or department by department.
- Retire the PBX when the last group has moved.
A migration plan with a named contact
Enterprise includes a migration plan and a named account manager. Together with your IT team we map the extensions, ring groups, menus and numbers on the PBX, agree the order of the move and schedule each port. Security review documents are available on request for your internal approval.
SIP trunk provider requirements for IT teams
IT teams usually ask the same questions before connecting a trunk: how it is secured, who can change it and how calls are logged. On Enterprise, admin access is controlled with SSO through SAML, Okta or Microsoft Entra ID, users are provisioned with SCIM, custom admin roles limit who changes routing, and an audit log records every change. Data retention policies decide how long recordings and call records are kept. The uptime commitment is a financially backed SLA. Read more on VoIP security and enterprise VoIP systems.

SIP trunking questions
Which plan includes SIP trunking?
SIP trunking for an existing PBX is part of the Enterprise plan, together with SSO, SCIM, custom admin roles, an audit log and a financially backed SLA.
Do we have to move everyone at once?
No. The trunk lets the PBX and Youvoip run side by side, so you can move department by department or site by site.
Can we keep our phone numbers?
Yes. Numbers are ported to Youvoip at no charge, in batches that match your migration plan.
How do we start?
Choose Talk to sales and tell us about your PBX, the number of extensions and sites and your timeline. We come back with a migration plan and a quote.
